The sender and the recipient each have a pair of cryptographic keys: a public key and a private key. This system ensures that the message remains encrypted throughout its journey, from the sender to the recipient, and no one else can access it, including hackers or the service provider itself. WhatsApp’s encryption technology is based on the Signal Protocol, which is widely regarded as one of the most secure encryption protocols available. This metadata includes information about the time, date, and duration of messages, as well as details about contacts and group memberships.
